The ex-president has long been wary of taking a definitive stand against abortion rights. But some Republicans are infringing the spirit of the Supreme Court ruling – which sent the issue back to individual states – by pushing for a national ban. House Republicans were thrown for a loop on Tuesday when a vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over his handling of the southern border failed after four Republicans voted against it. House GOP leaders displayed confidence going into the vote despite knowing ahead of time that at least a couple Republican members were going to vote against impeachment. CNN —Nevada’s attorney general is investigating individuals who acted as fake electors in the state following the 2020 election, a source close to the investigation told CNN. Attorney General Aaron Ford’s office declined to comment. In Georgia, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has charged multiple individuals involved in the plot to put forth fake electors in that state, along with Trump. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel in July charged more than a dozen individuals who acted as fake electors.
